As a side-event of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD) the H2A organised a business roundtable for a South African delegation together with other hydrogen projects of the Federal Government of Germany implemented by GIZ (H2.SA, PtX Hub and Energy Partnerships) on 30 March 2023. The roundtable was hosted by the South African Embassy in Berlin.
More than 30 experts from Germany and South Africa participated in the roundtable. H2A partner companies such as Enertrag, thyssenkrupp Uhde, Bosch, VNG, Eternal Power and PNE discussed with the South African delegation led by Joanne Bates, Head of the Industrial Development Corporation, on the opportunities and challenges of a green hydrogen market in South Africa. In addition, planned KfW financed projects were presented by the South African partners. The event also allowed networking and exploring possible business opportunities in the South African market for those H2A partner which are not yet active in South Africa.
